Adidas Apologizes After Offensive Email to Boston Marathon Finishers

Adidas dropped the ball last Monday after sending an offensive congratulatory email to all of the runners who took part in the 121st Boston Marathon.

The message may not have been intended to be malicious however ‘Congrats, you survived the Boston Marathon!’ was met with a backlash given the history of the event.  Considering that Adidas is a sponsor to the event it should have known about the Boston Marathon Bombing in 2013 that claimed the lives of three people and injuring 260 more.

In a statement from Adidas: “We are incredibly sorry. Clearly, there was no thought given to the insensitive email subject line we sent Tuesday,”

“We deeply apologize for our mistake. The Boston Marathon is one of the most inspirational sporting events in the world. Every year we’re reminded of the hope and resiliency of the running community at this event.”
